From the People Who Brought Their Watches In

ST

Somrak Thongpan

Pattaya, Thailand

I brought in my father's old Seiko that had been sitting in a drawer for about six years. Krit was straightforward with me — he explained what needed doing and what I could leave for later. The overhaul took about three weeks and the watch came back running well. Nothing flashy, just solid work.

Had a bracelet resized here. Simple job, I know, but I've had it done badly elsewhere — scratches, links bent slightly. Pendulink did it properly. The watch was returned the next day in exactly the condition it went in. Good to find someone in Pattaya who takes these things seriously.

I was nervous about a dial refresh because I didn't want the watch to look different afterwards. Anchalee walked me through exactly what they would and wouldn't do before I agreed to anything. The result was much better legibility without the watch looking like it had been touched. I appreciated the patience.

French expat, Pattaya

Brought in a watch I had purchased in Geneva years ago. The movement had been running slow. Full overhaul done here — condition report provided, timeline kept, and it came back regulating properly. The written scope document was something I had not seen a local workshop offer before. Very professional.

Took about four weeks for the overhaul, which was a little longer than I expected, but I was told partway through that an additional part needed sourcing and asked whether to proceed. I was glad they checked rather than just ordering it. The end result was good and the price stayed as quoted.

I was only in Pattaya for a week and needed a strap fitted. They handled it the same afternoon. Clean work, no marks, bracelet fits well now. Good to know this workshop exists if I am back in the area with anything more complex.

Case Studies

A Few Detailed Accounts

Case Study 01 — Full Overhaul

A 1970s Automatic, Back in Good Order

The Situation

A vintage Japanese automatic had been unworn for twelve years. The owner was unsure whether it was worth servicing, given the age and the cost involved.

What Was Done

Full movement disassembly, cleaning, lubrication, and regulation. Case gaskets replaced. Condition report prepared first. Owner opted to leave the dial untouched, which was respected.

Outcome

Movement running within +/−8 seconds per day. Watch has since been worn regularly without issue. Duration: 3 weeks. Cost: ฿32,700 as quoted.

"I wasn't sure what to expect from a workshop I'd not used before. The written scope was reassuring. The watch is running nicely now — better than I had hoped, given how long it had sat."

Case Study 02 — Dial & Hands

Legibility Restored Without Altering Character

The Situation

A watch purchased in the late 1990s had faded lume on both dial and hands. The owner wanted it readable but was concerned about losing the aged look.

What Was Done

Hands replaced with appropriate alternatives for that era of watch. Dial surface cleaned. Options for lume treatment were shown on a test piece first before the owner agreed to proceed.

Outcome

Noticeably better legibility in low light. Dial unchanged. Duration: 7 working days. Cost: ฿10,900 as quoted.

"They showed me exactly what the hands would look like before fitting them. That mattered to me. The watch looks like itself, just easier to read now."

Case Study 03 — Strap Fitting

A Bracelet That Finally Fits

The Situation

An expat with a metal bracelet that had never been properly sized. A previous adjustment elsewhere had left a slight bend in two links.

What Was Done

Bent links identified and corrected. Bracelet resized to correct fit. Spring bars checked and two replaced as a precaution. Work completed same afternoon.

Outcome

Bracelet sitting correctly. Links undamaged. Duration: 3 hours. Cost: ฿3,500 as quoted.

"Quick and careful. No new scratches, which was my main concern. Happy to recommend."
